ABOUT ASHLEY DARRYL DESIGNS
Founded by Ashley Darryl in 2009, Ashley Darryl Designs is a hand-made exclusive jewelry line made up of two collections: Frosting and Delicates. The Frosting Collection is composed of unique, one-of-a-kind vintage rhinestones from the 1950s and 1960s. The Delicates Collection is a distinctive and vivid collection of gemstones and chains inspired by Ashley’s trips to Turkey and India. Ashley Darryl Designs seamlessly combines vintage glamour with timeless sophistication resulting in statement pieces that can be worn according to varying moods: dramatic, subtle, playful, or demure.
Ashley Darryl’s creativity flourished at an early age while growing up on her family’s ranch in East Texas. She began making jewelry in high-school with hopes to start her own line. Always inspired by the aesthetic of the arts, Ashley graduated from Southern Methodist University in 2004 with a major in Art History and a minor in Studio Art. After college she then moved to New York City to complete a graduate program in American Arts from Sotheby’s Institute of Art. During her time at Sotheby’s, Ashley’s artistic vision took shape into designing jewelry professionally. While working at one of New York’s premier interior design firms, Jeff Lincoln Interiors, she was able to scour antique stores, flea markets and trade shows for unique, exclusive gemstones, chains and pendants.
After hosting a small jewelry party in New York City, Ashley’s family and friends were hooked on her innovative, avant-garde designs. As demand grew among her inner circle of fashion-industry friends and contacts, Ashley decided to launch Ashley Darryl Designs with two ethereal collections.
Ashley is focused on designing for women in all walks of life: the southern belle, the New York fashionista, the poised equestrian, the globe-trotter and the hip uptown mother. “Every piece in both collections tells its own story, and I want my clients to speak to the world through the pieces they wear,” says Ashley.
Ashley Darryl’s jewelry is sold exclusively via appointment or specialty boutiques and has been featured in top fashion magazines such as In Style, Gloss and Modern Luxury.
DETAILS ON THE FROSTING COLLECTION
While living in the uber-glam and chic Manhattan, Ashley was inspired to develop the Frosting Collection as “the” go-to accessories for every New York girl. Each piece in the collection can instantly glam up a pair of jeans and t-shirt or balance a high-fashion outfit. Ashley identifies all the pieces as “show-stoppers.” Every piece in Frostings is composed of one-of-a-kind vintage rhinestones resulting in an exclusive piece of art. Pieces such as “Santorini” inspired by the Aegean waters of Greece to “Valentino” inspired by Mr. Valentino’s last runway collection speak to the customer. There really is something for everyone and nothing can be duplicated.
DETAILS ON THE DELICATES COLLECTION
The Delicates Collection was inspired by Ashley’s trip to Turkey where she was struck by the rich, colorful hand-made work of tapestries, caftans and throws at the local bazaars and markets. Ashley was specifically influenced by multi-colored stones often referred to as ‘watermelon tourmaline’ in addition to Tigers Eye--a favorite for its earthly brown tones and yellow/gold highlights. The individual stones are meticulously threaded into delicate single-strands to bold multi-layered strands of 12-karat gold fill, pure-18 karat gold or sterling silver. Delicates also includes feathered vintage cord necklaces interlaced among prune-sized sleek stones adding a quirky West Coast edge to the timeless collection.
